Impact Tracker Sections

EARLY CARE & EDUCATION

  • As a result of On My Way Pre-K being an extremely successful and valuable program in Floyd County, Indiana, Metro United Way stepped-up and provided investments to support expansion to Clark County. This program has experienced growth each year (excluding 2020, due to COVID). School year 2022-23 did not disappoint – programs in both counties experienced record high numbers resulting in 373 eligible 4-year-olds having access to affordable, high-quality pre-school.
  • We completed Ready for K Alliance’s Access & Quality Action Network first listening session with Russell center-based child care providers held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in partnership with Russell Place of Promise, 4-C, and Child Care Aware in order to get input from child care providers on their training and organizational needs.
  • Working with the Ready for K Alliance’s Healthy Development Partners to plan our November Action Network Meeting that will focus on Language Justice practices.
  • Collaborated with the Ready for K Alliance’s Family and Caregiver Action Network partners to co-create a communications and social media toolkit for the Countdown to Kindergarten Practitioner and Family Calendars.
  • JCPS Kindergarten registration for fall of 2023 opened on Tuesday, November 1, and must be completed by Friday, December 16. 523 families within our Ages & Stages “Hub” have been contacted on how to register and apply, how to locate their school, open house schedules, and a list of events to help as well as the Kindergarten Readiness Checklist developed by JCPS.
  • An ASQ training was held on Saturday, November, 12 for community partners, childcare providers, and healthcare providers. Each participant received a gift card for $50 to Scholastic Books to support their centers.

 

YOUTH SUCCESS

  • Youth Success Network Partner Count: 96!
  • We conducted a training for partners around social and emotional learning and have also connected them to our IT network and internet improvement support.
  • Working on a Youth Success RFP for our entire region: Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Bullitt Counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, Harrison Counties in Southern Indiana. More details soon!
  • We are working with the Louisville Metro Office of Safe & Healthy Neighborhoods (OSHN) YES! Team to develop a plan and budget for up to $1.48M in American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds.

 

  • Results from our AcceLOUrate Savings program:
    • 131 new participants engaged (overall goal: 120).
    • We have 183 active participants (overall goal: 135).
    • 102 participants have improved in achieving financial goals (annual goal: 108).
    • 84 participants have established a pattern of savings (annual goal: 86).
    • 63 participants have reached their emergency savings goal (annual goal: 45).
  • Attend our YALift! Storytelling and Narrative “Take This!” Photovoice exhibit with UofL’s Hite Institute of Art & Design focusing on topics such as: economic security, financial independence, and guaranteed income. It kicks off Saturday, November 19 at The Social Practice Lab, 1229 S. Shelby St, Louisville, Kentucky from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. It’s free and open to the public! Light refreshments will be served.
  • As participants are nearing six months into our YaLift! guaranteed income pilot, be on the lookout for stories in local media (we will also share links in our press room, on social and in the next Impact Tracker!).

 

  • Currently working on a Shelby County Community Needs Assessment in partnership with the Shelby County Community Foundation.
  • Applications for our upcoming Build-A-Bed in Southern Indiana have been distributed with the deadline of Friday, January 20. Lumber is being ordered, and volunteer registration will be open soon!

  • Our Racial Wealth Gap Simulation continues to be one of the most powerful and popular engagement opportunities we have. Two of our fellow United Way offices in Central Indiana were able to experience and learn from the simulation. TekSystems, Humana and Best Buy have requested sessions to be held as well.​
  • Our inaugural cohort of Black L.O.V.E. Philanthropic Partnership grantees have their first listening and discussion session scheduled for this month where they will convene to exchange ideas and feedback about BLPP and outcomes they’ve experienced thus far as well as vision for the future.
