Metro United Way Launches New Direct Help Platform

United Community Care Coordination Center to provide real-time, direct access for urgent basic needs

Louisville, Ky. (August 10, 2022) – Metro United Way (MUW) is pleased to announce a new way to connect people in the Greater Louisville region to vital resources in real-time and in a more efficient manner.

The virtual United Community Care Coordination Center opens today to any person in Louisville and Jefferson County. It’s a simple, online application made available through MUW’s United Community technology platform that, before today, was not available to the public. United Community launched in 2019 and has connected service providers in our community to send and receive electronic referrals, address people’s social needs, and improve health, education, and financial wellbeing.

“This is a game changer in our community,” said Adria Johnson, President and CEO of Metro United Way. “We’ve always had a 24/7 referral service available to anyone in our region but now people can get immediate, direct access to providers that can help, thanks to the technology of our United Community platform.”

With the United Community Care Coordination Center, individuals and families can request direct help with food, housing, utilities, transportation, educational supports, health care, mental health and addiction, maternal health and wellness, employment and job services, and more.

Local nonprofit The Hope Buss has partnered with MUW to help manage the United Community Care Coordination Center because of its history of identifying urgent needs in our community, especially around food insecurity.

“We couldn’t be more excited about expanding this resource,” said Stachelle Bussey, Founder and Executive Director of The Hope Buss. “Since our formation, we’ve seen the incredible need to go beyond providing ordinary resources and traditional services. This is an incredible opportunity to expand and serve the community at the next level. United Community Care Coordination Center will help us provide immediate relief with minimal hassle. This is game changing. This is HOPE.”
